Diversified Agriculture
We all know that agriculture is an important part of South Carolina’s heritage. But did you know that agriculture-based businesses play a critical and expanding role in the growth of the state’s economy?
In fact, agribusiness is one of the largest economic clusters in the state and a critically important part of the knowledge based economy. According to the S.C. Department of Agriculture, it has a direct and indirect economic impact of $33.9 billion a year, provides $7.5 billion in labor income, and creates and supports almost 200,000 jobs.
What does all this mean for you? It means that getting an education in agriculture from Piedmont Technical College can give you the right foundation to be a part of one of the most promising fields in the state.
Located in agriculture-rich Saluda County, our curriculum will give you the hands-on training and in-depth classroom instruction to understand and master the daily requirements of a career in agriculture. And because we work directly with some of the major agribusinesses in the region to develop our curricula, you’ll be qualified to enter the workforce with the skills that employers need, or to operate a farm of your own.
